Next time you're walking past the Memorial Garden (corner of Washington Street and Queen Mary Drive) take a look at the home-made church birdhouse donated by Mel Teal. (Mel is on our Neighbourhood Services Page under Wooden Items).
With development spreading right to the ridge of our majestic creek (especially on the west side), we felt the need for a maple tree where our bridge bench is located. Previously, there were only Sumac trees growing there. The Town agreed to our request and planted a maple in May of 2010.
The rain in June (2010) has certainly taken care of the plants we put into the bridge planter this past spring. Many thanks to the Town for installing such a lovely visual planter as you enter our community.

And there are some new trees in the neighbourhood, too.
New Tree Next to "Welcome to West River" Sign
