Our Mission.

WRRA’s mission is to advocate and protect our residents’ and community interests, to keep residents informed, and to organize neighbourhood social activities.​

We are strong advocates for our community with the Town of Oakville and local politicians. 

We are a volunteer board who spends time to organize events for our community throughout the year, and we create and manage this website, emails and social media.

There are 4 ways that we collect the money that supports everything we do for our residents and community.

  1. WRRA Annual Membership Fee of $20 paid for by residents

  2. Tickets events

  3. Sponsors who support our mission, events, or want visibility for their business.

  4. Donations or contributions from other associations, residents or The Town of Oakville.

  • Nicole LeBlanc

    2026 President

    Nicole joined the Board in 2020. Nicole and husband LeBaron moved from Toronto in 2014. LeBaron grew up in Oakville and they were looking for a strong sense of community. They were happy to find West River. Born in London, Nicole moved to Kitchener-Waterloo when she was 10. She attended  University of Waterloo earning a degree in Biomedical Science with a minor in Computer Science. Nicole works for Cook Medical, a multinational medical device company as a Global Training Manager, specializing in ENT. She has two young daughters who love the neighbourhood, especially the walkability and community. She has a passion for learning and development but also for helping others.

  • Joe Williams

    Events

    Joe was raised in Oakville, and attended the University of Guelph studing English & Business. He spent a number of years in Bloor West Village in Toronto, and moved back to Oakville in 2019. Joe spends his time in the neighbourhood walking his dog Oatie, cycling and tending to the community ice rink at Forster Park in the winter. Joe is a member of the Oakville running club, Connor's Runners. Professionally, Joe is a residential real estate agent - working out of the local Royal Lepage office in downtown Oakville.

  • Andrea Kuronen

    Secretary

    Andrea Kuronen was raised in South Oakville and has deep roots in the community. She grew up sailing at OYS with her father and has fond memories of the neighbourhood. In April 2022 Andrea and her husband moved to Kerr Village from the Bronte area with their two sons. She looks forward to raising their two toddlers in this beautiful and thoughtful community.

  • Ian Barnett

    Marketing, IT, Community Engagement

    Ian joined the Board in 2025. He and his family were drawn to West River by the sense of community, nature and culture. Born in Wales, Ian enjoyed a 24 year career in Management Consulting, Marketing and Risk Mitigation before transitioning as an independent consultant. Today, Ian and his wife lead The Chang-Barnett Foundation and have dedicated their lives to the preservation, and modernization of Ancient Knowledge, Practice and Ritual. As a 21st Generation Shaolin Shifu, Ian teaches and practices Qi Gong, Tai Ji, Feng Shui, Yi Jing, Traditional Chinese Medicine and other related knowledge in the areas of arts, music and health.
