50 Speers Development Proposal and Statutory Public Meeting January 23, 2023


An application has been submitted to replace an existing 7 storey rental apartment building with a new purpose-built rental apartment building consisting of a 7 storey podium with a 20 storey tower element (total 27 storey + 1-2 story mechanical, 314 new rental units). The proposal will provide a variety of units from townhouse to 1, 2 and 3 bedrooms.


After reviewing the proposal the WRRA Board feels that 27+ stories is too high and would create a precedent for building heights in the area. We are also concerned with the left turns from the proposed building as this is already an issue on Speers.


There is a statutory public meeting coming Monday January 23rd that our President Nicole LeBlanc will be a delegate at to make sure the neighbourhood voices are heard with respect to the proposed development.
