Halton residents aged 80 and older are now eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine

Picnic in the park

Halton Region has announced that older adults aged 80 and older are now eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. Halton’s vaccination clinics will open gradually for eligible residents who have booked an appointment in advance:

How to book an appointment

If you are eligible or you are booking on behalf of someone who is eligible, please go online at halton.ca/COVIDvaccines and use the booking form to quickly and easily schedule an appointment.

If you require support to book an appointment you can call 311 and a customer service representative will be available to help. Please only call 311 if you are eligible and unable to book online to ensure those residents requiring support can be assisted.

If you have a family member, friend or neighbor who is 80 years of age or older and may need some assistance, please reach out and help them book an appointment online.

How to get to the appointment

If you do not have access to a vehicle to get your appointment, please choose one of the following transportation support options:

  • Option 1: Make arrangements for a ride from a friend, family member or support person;

  • Option 2: Regular users of Specialized Local Municipal Transit (Handi-van, care-a-van, Activan or Milton access+) can contact their service provider directly to arrange transportation to and from their appointment, free of charge;

  • Option 3: Those without access to specialized transportation can book a private taxi directly with select service providers (telephone numbers listed on halton.ca/COVIDvaccines) to arrange transportation to and from their appointment, free of charge.

When travelling with individuals from outside of your household, please remember to wear a mask, keep as much distance as possible between yourself and others as possible and wash your hands frequently. Refer to COVID-19 Public Health Guidelines: Car Travel for more information.

Halton Region will continue to roll out the vaccine, as supply allows, to ensure that everyone in Halton who wants the vaccine can receive it. Even after receiving the vaccine, please continue to keep your guard up and continue practicing all public health measures that remain in place, including staying home except for essential purposes, wearing a mask, and physical distancing from people outside of your household.

For updates on when it will be your turn to get vaccinated and for the latest information on vaccine safety and our COVID-19 Vaccine Program, please visit halton.ca/COVIDvaccines.
